Supervision & Assistance
ADL support staff can provide participants with supervision and assist with basic self care tasks and day-to-day activities such as bathing and cleaning oneself, dressing, meal preparation and eating, light housekeeping and other activities. This gives individuals the freedom to remain in their own homes while receiving the care and support they need.

Why Choose Sapphire Support?
Sapphire Support offers specialised Assisted Living services for people with disabilities who require assistance in any home setting, whether it is in a shared space or in your private home.
Can you use NDIS Funding for Assisted Daily Care (ADls)?
There are three main budget categories: Core, Capital and Capacity Building supports. Assistance with daily life falls under the core and capacity supports category as it covers everyday personal activities.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds home care support if it is “reasonable and necessary” for those living with disabilities. Each NDIS plan is unique to the participant and provides funding based on their needs and goals.
A complete ADL assessment can be done to help determine if an individual’s functional performance in the areas of personal, self-care, domestic and general home maintenance activities in and around the home needs assistance and support
Why is ADLs listed under Core and Capacity Building in an NDIS plan?
Core Supports
Core Support refers to the type of assistance that is crucial for a participant to live comfortably and safely.
This category covers the expenses of a support worker who helps them with everyday tasks.
Capacity Building
Capacity Building, on the other hand, is about giving a participant the skills and abilities needed so they can live independently with reduced support.
This category includes the costs of assessments, therapy, and training programs aimed at achieving this goal.
What is Not Covered?
Funding is not provided for the following:
- The cost of food or ready made meals (including delivered meals – the NDIS will only cover the cost of preparation and delivery)
- The cost of household items such as cleaning supplies
- Personal items not related to your disability such as toiletries and cosmetics
- Rent, board or mortgage payments
- Tickets for events, activities and transportation
Do I Qualify For Personal Care Services Under the NDIS?
To qualify for ADL, it’s necessary to have complete ADLs assessments done by an Occupational Therapist. Once the assessment is completed, the NDIS reviews the application and makes the final decision on the level of funding required.
Obtaining assistance for activities of daily living (ADL) through the NDIS can be a complex process. This process can be made easier with the help of a Support Coordinator, who can guide you through the process and ensure that all necessary documentation is in order.
If you are in need of assistance finding a Support Coordinator, we are here to help and provide you with the necessary referrals. Let us take the complexity out of the process and ensure that you receive the support you need to live your life to the fullest.
